Description
In the middle of a slanted table about 80 cm tall is a large square area lit from below, onto which X-ray images can be placed to be illuminated.
To the right of the light area are 8 vertical openings, from left to right, holding tactile drawings of the puppets' X-rays. Above the openings are the puppets' X-ray images on paper sheets, to be placed on the table.
At the lower right edge of the table are the exhibit number, the NFC symbol and a QR code — scanning it lets you experience the exhibition in an accessible way.
1. Nella Della
In Nella Della's X-ray image, the brightest and almost only visible parts are the puppet's almond-shaped plastic eyes, her downward-curving wire mouth and her hands. The control rods are attached to the hands with metal plates.
2. Lemuel
In Lemuel's X-ray image, the puppet's whole skeleton-like body is visible. Inside his brightly showing head you can see wires, rivets and a magnet, which are used to move the puppet's eyes and mouth and to remove his teeth. Clearly visible is also the carabiner connecting the head to the body. Lemuel's shoulders are joined by a horizontal plywood support, to which the puppet's arms are attached. The puppet's right elbow is connected with a carabiner. The wire fingers, attached to hands made of balsa wood, show as straight white strokes.
In the middle of the body an upright wooden support is visible. In the middle of the puppet's belly is a hinge, which appears in the X-ray image as a rectangular plate.
Above the boy's right hip is a metal loop, fixed to his body with bolts and screws.
Of the legs, the most prominent in the image are the puppet's boots with plywood toes, fastened with screws and a metal pin.
3. Daughter
In Daughter's X-ray image, the puppet's silicone head shows brightly, with two wires in the neck area turned down and to the side.
In the lower part of the puppet's body are sand and wadding, which appear in the image as an irregular white patch.
4. Mõhk
Mõhk's X-ray image shows the ogre's upper body in side view. In the puppet's head, turned to the right, the nose, mouth, eyes and foam plastic horns are faintly visible. Inside the head, the most prominent feature is a long aluminium tube curving from the forehead to the back of the head and down to the lower back, with the puppet's plywood shoulders attached to it with a washer. The puppet's fingers show as curved white strokes, with control rods attached to the hands.
At the lower end of the aluminium tube is a curved trigger bent from wire.
5. Wednesday
In Wednesday's X-ray image you may notice several wires resembling strands of hair at the top edge of the puppet's round head. Wednesday's middle is formed by an hourglass-shaped frame, on which the metal brooch and the belt buckle are also visible. The middle of the body is connected by a spring to the lower body, which is formed of two partially overlapping wire rings. Arms are placed on both sides of the body. On one forearm a hinge twisted from wire is visible. Hanging control rods are attached to the hands with a metal plate.
6. Bianca
Bianca's X-ray image shows the puppet's oval heads. In the middle of the head is a vertical support rod running down to the neck, thickening towards the bottom, with several tiny nuts and washers on it. The support rod ends at the puppet's neck, which is marked as a compressed-air quick coupling with a spring.
The puppet's eyelids show as white arcs. In the upper and lower parts of the face are two lighter horizontal arcs — aluminium bars.
In the image of Bianca's second head her face appears slightly more transparent, revealing a wire mesh around the puppet's eyes and a spring on her forehead. There is a screw on the puppet's nose and a nail in the chin area.
7. Uteshitelny
In side view, Uteshitelny appears in the X-ray image without hands. The outline of the puppet's face is clearly drawn. A long screw is visible at his forehead, and a safety pin in the middle of the shoulder area. The frame of the puppet's middle is formed of irregular crossing wires. In the middle of the body is a square plywood plate, and in the lower right part of the body a metal key is visible.
From the lower part of the torso extend two curved, bowed legs, attached to the body with clamps. The character's heels are metal and his shoes plywood.
8. Max the Burglar
Max the Burglar's X-ray image shows the whole puppet. Max looks up and to the right. One rod is stuck into the puppet's forehead, another extends from the top of his head.
Max's neck is formed by a long spring, showing bright white in the X-ray image, connected to the head by a metal ring.
The puppet's shoulder girdle shows brightly; attached to it with screw eyes are two arms made of springs.
The middle of the burglar's body and his legs are made of wider springs, joined together with rivets, a sheet-metal connection and clamps.
